Tuesday Trivia with Matt - Episode 225
For the first time ever, the blog is coming at you from thousands of feet in the air! Alex and I are travelling back from a quick weekend trip to celebrate a friend’s birthday… and so I’m writing this blog from the plane! ✈️
Episode 225 had us yacht-rocking all night long! That yacht rock reimaginings music round is one of my favorite audio rounds ever, and thanks so much to Bill or Three Halves of a Whole Idiot for the round suggestion!
This week’s show caught me by surprise in round four, our “vUNn Diagrams” round… when an answer I wasn’t expecting was answered by almost every team! More on that in a bit…
But let’s start this week’s blog with some congrats to our podium teams of the week:
🥇 Crafty Tiger Bitches were victorious with a near perfect score of 117! WOW!
🥈 Two teams tied for second place: Just Neighbors and Jeremy Bearimy. Congrats to you both!
🏅 and in fourth place we have High School Musical: The Musical, The Series, The Team Name!
“The Alex Award” winner this week came in round five where we celebrated some famous daytime TV talk show hosts. It’s a challenge to keep all those names straight, and one team tried a hybrid name of two different hosts. Right next to each other in the graphic were Ricki Lake and Sherri Shephard, but unfortunately the correct answer was not “Sherri Lake”. 🤣 4 Peas and a Pa, your hybrid name was enough to make Alex giggle and choose you as winners of his award this week.
There were a few scoring corrections that impacted some teams scores by a point or two in either direction as compared to what was announced live. Most significantly was the official judges ruling on if “South Korea” would be an acceptable answer in the venn diagram geography round. I did want to acknowledge that as a correct answer, even though the UN website has South Korea officially named “Republic of Korea” without the word “south” in its name. The thing that made this tricky was that one team did correctly answer South Sudan and I feel like they should deservedly get the full two points. SOOOOOO…. the official judges ruling was that every team that put “South Korea: would get one point, and South Sudan got two points. That impacted many teams, and the new scores for that round are reflected in the scoreboard below (including those who doubled in thar round, you got TWO more points!).
