Tuesday Trivia with Matt - Episode 224

It is HALFTIME of season three of the Fall Trivia League! Five episodes down and five more to go. Who’s in the lead? Keep reading to find out!

I had a LOT of fun writing this week’s episode. Much of the show was inspired by the road trip that Alex and I took to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park with some dear friends. There was a colorful music round inspired by Dolly Parton, a whole round of bears (because, bears! 🐻), and we wrapped it up with one of my favorite rounds ever: a pun-pourri round featuring theme parks I made up that all rhymed with Dollywood! I had a few teams tell me that they want to actually go to Tamalewood! Me too! 🫔

Let’s first get into our winners of “The Alex Award” this week… and there are TWO! They both came in the same round: our music rounds called “The Quote of Many Colors”. In this round, I played a music clip, and when it stopped, I asked you to give me the exact quote that comes next which included a color. Alex enjoyed two of your responses for different reasons, so we have two winners.

First, in response to Pearl Jam’s “Jeremy” lyric which reads “lemon yellow sun”, one team replied “lemon cello sun”. 🤣 Maybe they thought Jeremy was about a kid drinking citrusy limoncello cocktails?! For the giggle that this gave Alex, congrats to Clickity Clackity Crustaceans!

Also a winner is team We’re Just Guessing, who were literally guessing every color they could. The point structure of the round gave teams two points for the exact correct lyric from the song, but still one point if the lyric wasn’t exact but you still had the correct color in it. As I played the music clips, I also told you how many words the quote was. Well, one of them was five words, and We’re Just Guessing didn’t know the exact lyric, but they tried their darndest to at least get one point for the color, because the five word lyric they guessed was: “Orange blue green yellow pink”. 🤣 A LEGIT GOOD STRATEGY. If only the lyric wasn’t from Prince’s 1999: “The sky was all PURPLE”. 🙃💜

For the first time this season, I did get two emails defending answers that should have been accepted… and in most cases, points were rewarded, so you will see some adjustments to the scores in the charts below as compared to what I announced live during the show. You are always welcome to do that!

Here are our podium teams this week:

🥇 Three Halves of a Whole Idiot earned their first win of the season and their highest score of the season so far! Congrats!
🥈 Season 1 and 2 winners Just Neighbors added another strong score for this season and a silver medal for the week. Woo hoo!
🥉 and in third place we have Crafty Tiger Bitches with one of the only perfect scores in that challenging music lyric round. Way to go!

A couple notes from your host:

I love analyzing the season scoreboard, and it is so exciting for me to add the scores each week. This week some teams added their highest scores of the season and others logged their lowest. It makes me happy with the way we shake things up with varied round themes and round formats because the diverse content allows different teams to shine each week. 😊

And as always, I just THANK YOU for continuing to play every week and support our show. As we get ready for episode TWO HUNDRED AND TWENTY FIVE, I am so grateful that we have shows with 16 teams and 61 people showing up to play. As Alex kindly reminds me “if this were in-person trivia at a bar, the place would be PACKED!”. And it’s true. I am thankful for each of you. 💜
