Tuesday Trivia with Matt - Episode 222
2night was episode TWO-HUNDRED and TWENTY TWO! Things got a bit sticky (and I’m not just referring to that chewing gum themed round 🤣).
A big welcome back to team Just Neighbors, the two-time fall league champs! Team Go Us also joined us this week, bringing the league total up to 19 teams! Woo hoo!
There were no big scoring corrections made from Alex’s live scoring, so the scores and placements read are official, as seen in the scoreboard and season leaderboard below.
🥇Congratulations to Threat Level Midday for their first win of the season, and a high score that moved them up several spots on the season leaderboard!
🥈Just one point away from a tie at the top was Crafty Tiger Bitches who also logged their best score of the season so far.
🥉And nabbing the third podium spot this week, our current league leaders, Jeremy Bearimy!
I made a silly mistake while hosting, saying that Julia Louis-Dreyfuss’s character in VEEP was Catwoman (Selina Kyle instead of Selina Meyer… LOL!). Thanks for keeping me honest! Alex assured me that everyone that put “Selina” got the points on that question. I feel like we need a Catwoman/VEEP crossover now though!
Also, I love that several teams put “Hubba Bubba” for Mario Lopez in the gum round… when the intended answer was “Extra”. I appreciate the idea and the giggle!
Something else that was interesting to me was the number of un-doubled perfect scores in the first round, having you match Maggie Smith movies. I’m gathering that many of you just went with some educated guesses for some of those matches and were pleasantly surprised by the outcome. Job well done!
You’ll also see on the season leaderboard that some teams earned some additional prize entries! Last week I sent an email out to the Fall Season email list and offered an extra prize entry for round suggestions… and three teams earned extra prize entries: Thots and Prayers, Clickety Clackety Crustaceans, and Jeremy Bearimy. Keep your eyes peeled for more bonus opportunities to win prize entries throughout the season!
“The Alex Award” winner for this week is one that certainly gave me a giggle, and hopefully will for you too! It came from the music round, which featured two-second snippets of songs by famous duos. One of the songs I included was “Tequila” by Dan + Shay. There were a few guesses of other country music duos, that were incorrect but still good attempts. Well… good attempts if you have any knowledge of country music at all. My lovely, intelligent husband knows a lot about a lot of things… but none of those areas of knowledge include country music. 🤣🤠 So when Alllll Byyyy Myselffff + Mom guessed “Brooks and Dunn”… (Grammy and CMA award-winning duo with decades of success, Brooks and Dunn)… Alex literally thought it was just a made up duo name that Kristin and Claudia created to sound like a good name for a country group. *insert cackle* I had to explain to him that Brooks and Dunn are real. He said “but if you were coming up with a fake country duo name, Brooks and Dunn sounds so good it sounds fake and not real”. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 So, Kristin and Claudia, congrats on coming up with the best real fake-sounding answer and winning “The Alex Award” this week.
Also, thank you to all the teams who provided prize suggestions on our survey. Some really great suggestions were submitted, and I look forward to discussing with Jean and determining what the new tangible prizes will be for 2024!
