Tuesday Trivia with Matt - Episode 129
Happy 10-4, my good trivia buddies! Episode 129 had you flexing your barista brains, remembering reality TV sayings, and finding famous friendship groups in movies. This week we had 16 teams play, including two new teams Be Nice To Me and Mel and Friends. Thanks to everyone for tuning in!
The full scoreboard for this week’s show is below with a few small shifts in scores and placements as compared to what I announced last night. With this new league format, I personally double check all of the answers submitted to ensure that Alex’s quick scoring is accurate, and while 98% of it was accurate, there were a few points here and there that some teams earned and were not recorded live last night.
One thing to point out that I received three separate inquiries about: Alex was fairly lenient during the music lyrics round if teams were off by an article or otherwise fairly common word. For example, for Whitney Houston’s Greatest Love of All, if you submitted “I believe that children are our future” OR “I believe the children are our future”, you were awarded points. However, with the Katy Perry Firework lyric, y’all had a lot of different actions that that dang plastic bag was doing! 🤣 It was floating… it was blowing… it was dancing… but the correct word was “drifting” and you needed to say that word to get the points.
Congratulations to This Is How We Know We're Petty! Petti! Petté! for their win this week… fresh off their 1st place win during Cheers to the 80’s Trivia last week. WELL DONE! 🏆Their high score also moves them up the season leaderboard into second place.
Due to a few points found while double checking scores, second place was earned by Campbell Soup! The podium was rounded out by two teams tied in third place The Re-Trivia-ers and Crafty Tiger Bitches. Congrats to all of you!
Crafty Tiger Bitches also won the random wheel spin and earned an extra slot on our end-of-season prize wheel tonight. 🎁 Every week that your team completes the game, you earn an entry for prizes and at the end of the season. I will continue to track each team’s total prize wheel entries (including the extra ones won by a weekly wheel spin) in the last column of the season scoreboard. So far ever week it has gone to a new team! Who will win it next week?
“The Alex Award” for this episode goes to Hot Ass Soup! This weekly award, as decided subjectively by my husband and scorekeeper Alex, goes to the funniest or worst wrong answer of the week. They used the music lyrics round to really try and flatter us. For the 16 words in the lyrics of Whitney Houston’s Greatest Love of All, they went with “And I will always love Tuesday Trivia with Matt because Matt and Alex are the best”. 🤣 (Count it… it’s 16 words!) Not only that, but they really tried to play up to Alex’s love for Weird Al, but not only including the correct lyrics to Coolio’s Gangtas Paradise, but also Weird Al’s Amish Paradise. This week, flattery got you everywhere!

⏬⏬One last important note! Next week is a DOUBLE DOWN WEEK, meaning teams have the opportunity to double their score one round of their choice. This essentially makes the overall game worth 120 points instead of 100, so it could play a big part in season scores. This happens every second Tuesday of the month, so there are two Double Down shows left this season, and you won’t want to miss them! ⏬⏬
